What can (and can’t) go in a dumpster

Almost everything from a home or job site can go straight in the roll-off. A short list of hazardous and special items can’t — mostly for safety and landfill rules. Here’s the plain-English version for Camden County, and when in doubt, just ask.

Goes right in

  • Household junk & furniture
  • Construction & remodeling debris
  • Drywall, lumber, flooring & tile
  • Roofing shingles
  • Concrete, brick & dirt (ask for a heavy-debris can)
  • Yard waste, branches & brush
  • Cardboard, packaging & general trash
  • Non-Freon appliances (washers, dryers, stoves)

Keep these out

  • Paint, oils, solvents & wet chemicals
  • Asbestos & hazardous materials
  • Propane tanks & other pressurized cylinders
  • Tires
  • Car & household batteries
  • Freon appliances (fridges, freezers, AC units)
  • Electronics in some towns (e-waste rules)
  • Medical or biohazard waste

Why the restricted list? Hazardous liquids, asbestos, and pressurized tanks aren’t allowed at the transfer stations we use, and items like tires, batteries, and Freon appliances have to be recycled through separate programs. Most of these have easy drop-off options nearby — tell us what you’ve got and we’ll point you the right way.

Everything else is fair game. If you’re clearing a house, gutting a kitchen, re-roofing, or cleaning up a yard, a single roll-off handles it. Not sure which dumpster size you need or what it’ll cost? We’ll help you figure it out in one quick call.

FAQ

Common questions

What dumpster size do I need for my project?

A 10 yard handles small cleanouts, single-room renovations, and heavy debris like concrete. A 15 yard suits flooring tear-outs and garage cleanouts. A 20 yard is our most popular — right for whole-home remodels, large cleanouts, and roof tear-offs. A 30 yard is best for new construction, major renovations, and commercial jobs. When in doubt, call us and we'll help you choose in under two minutes.

What can't I put in the dumpster?

Prohibited items include liquid paint, chemicals, asbestos, propane tanks, tires, electronics, medical waste, and appliances containing refrigerants like fridges and air conditioners. Most household junk, construction debris, yard waste, and renovation materials are fine — call us if you're unsure about a specific item before loading.
